Isaiah 35:3-8 adapted
The Season of Advent is all about preparing for the Second Coming Of Christ, even as Christmas celebrates His First Coming. For the Faithful, the Second Coming is something to look forward to with joyful expectations.
4 Say to the anxious, ‘Be strong, fear not, your God is coming with judgment, coming with judgment to save you.’
5 Then [when He comes again] shall the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped; 6 Then shall the lame leap like a hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing for joy
The “blind“, “deaf“, “dumb” and “lame” are the Covenant People who had grown away from the Lord; doubting Him, they had become spiritually disabled: thy had lost faith and hope that the Lord would come to them in their trial. BUT, the Lord had not forgotten His People or His promises to them. He would come and rescue them. Then-
8 The ransomed of the Lord shall return [to the Lord] with singing, with everlasting joy upon their heads. 9 Joy and gladness shall be theirs, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
These words are great encouragement to those of us today who are going around depressed and crest fallen.
3 Strengthen the weary hands, and make firm the feeble knees.
The exhortation from the Lord to us today: “Get a grip. Stand up straight and walk tall!” The Lord is coming.
